As part of the Cultural Olympiad Open Weekend celebrations, the Wycombe Community Festival took place on Saturday 23th July on the Rye, London Road, High Wycombe.

The free family fun day was attended by over 1,000 people who enjoyed the vibrant performances, colourful parades and learnt about a variety of activities happening  within the area.  An international day in welcoming the world through the sharing, and participation of cultural celebrations will be enjoyed.

Participants were encouraged to take part in many  sporting activities on the day. There were a variety of sports clubs from the District offering taster sessions for free.  The event also provided a platform to showcase local young musical talent, with performances by visiting professional artists.  It was a day of celebration for all cultures within Buckinghamshire.  The day also included local creative artists and students displaying their crafts and artwork.  The activities planned encouraged the community to take part in dancing, sporting activities, and celebrated our diverse culture.

All proceeds made on the day went towards a new legacy project endorsed by Sir Steve Redgrave which will provide an opportunity for all within Buckinghamshire to try a large variety of Olympic and Paralympic sports within local clubs. The project has been recognised by the London 2012 Olympic committee, which has granted it the 2012 Inspire Mark status.
