Wycombe Steel Orchestra, based in High Wycombe, is a community-run orchestra playing a wide variety of music genres including calypso, classical and chart music. With around 15 key members, Wycombe Steel Orchestra consists only of the elite members from the newly-formed School of Steelpan to play out at events. All members are volunteers from a diverse range of backgrounds, ranging from 10 – 25 years of age. The musicians have been privileged to perform before Her Majesty The Queen, Elizabeth II for her Diamond Jubilee in the Palace Gardens; The Prime Minister of St Vincent & the Grenadines, Hon. Dr. Ralph. E. Gonsalves; H.R.H Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex; and for the Paralympic Handover.
Wycombe Steel Orchestra is currently co-ordinated by its Artistic Directors: Beth Gallagher, Jess Phillips and Chris Roberts who not only tutor all members, but also arrange the repertoire themselves. The full organisation of the orchestra overseen by its Creative Directors: Jacque Roberts & Jenni Phillips.

The development of Wycombe Steel Orchestra (established in 2005) has been a key project for SV2G. Establishing the Orchestra has been critical to the aim of SV2G to raise the standard and status of the steelpan instrument in the UK. In summer 2009 members of the Orchestra made history and successfully took part in the first steelpan graded examinations in the UK, with examiners attending from both, the University of West Indies (UWE) and the Associated Board for the Royal School of Music (ABRSM).

Wycombe Steel Orchestra is available to perform at Events, Festivals, Weddings, other celebrations and awards ceremonies. For more information, contact us.
