Wycombe Steel Orchestra Artistic Directors are CRB checked, trained tutors that teach, compose and arrange on the steelpan instruments. They have all been trained at the University of West Indies for graded examinations on the steelpan instruments.

Beth Gallagher BSc

Beth qualified with a 1st class Bachelors degree with honours in Real Estate Management and passed her MSc in Spatial Planning.

Beth’s musical skills originate from Irish fiddle, penny whistle and dancing. Her more recent background is in the Tenor Horn where she is currently the Principal Horn at Chinnor Silver Band. She has also taken grades in the piano and singing. Her pursuit of music has led her to perform in the Royal Albert Hall, Germany and Austria. Beth has stewarded at the International Brass Band Summer School residential course.

Jess Phillips

Jess is currently studying for her MSci in Forensic Science and is currently a Sports Federation Executive, answering directly to the Kent University Student Union Vice-President in charge of Sports.  She has also previously held the position of President of the African-Caribbean Society and Treasurer of the Kent Cheerleading Squad and is currently one of their coaches at Kent University.

Jess has taken her grades in Piano, Guitar, Music Theory and Singing. Her vocal chords have taken her to Austria and Slovakia on musical tours and performances at the Royal Albert Hall with Chamber Choir. Her other instruments currently learning are the Flute, Violin, and Saxophone.

Chris Roberts

Chris is currently studying for his LLB Bachelors degree in Law.

Chris has a performing arts background where he trained at the Jackie Palmer Stage School in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Drama, and Music.  Chris has been nominated for many awards over the years, including the Ken Dodd Tap Award by the International Dance & Theatre Awards in Manchester for the Trinity International Board.  His modelling and acting career has included award winning Harry Potter movies.
