HRH Prince Edward at new shopping mall
In July 2009 His Royal Highness Prince Edward, The Earl of Essex, visited High Wycombe. He attended the ceremony and unveiled a plaque to open the town's new Eden Centre.

Making History in High Wycombe with SV2G
On Monday 27th July 2009, Wycombe Steel Orchestra made history by being first in the UK to take the Steelpan graded examination in a joint project run by SV2G and the University of the West Indies (UWI).

International Conference to Celebrate 30 Years of Independence
In June 2009 over 100 Vincentian Nationals attended a conference in High Wycombe hosted by SV2G and Bucks New University. This event formed part of a wider programme being held in St. Vincent and the Grendadines, by it’s government, later in the year entitled “VincyHomecoming”. The events celebrated the nation’s Independence from British rule 30 years ago.

Paralympics Handover Event at Stoke Manderville Stadium
In September 2008 SV2G was involved in the Paralympic Handover Ceremony at the Stoke Mandeville Stadium. On the same day London 2012 launched its education programme with schools across the Country.

Visit from Hon Dr Ralph E Gonsalves, Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines in 2008
In 2008 Hon Dr Ralph E Gonsalves, Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines visited SV2G in High Wycombe to personally congratulate the Chair, Jacqueline Roberts on winning her election to become the new Chair of the National Committtee of St. Vincent & the Grenadines, UK.

Steelpan in Education Project
SV2G gave the opportunity for professional development of their Tutors which included intensive training on the steelpan syllabus at the University of West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago. This project laid down the foundations to accredit pan players and teachers internationally by setting up accredited courses and a grading system.

Heritage Lottery Fund Award 2006
In 2006 SV2G was awarded a grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund for an innovative Steel Pan project. SV2G aims to spread awareness of African Caribbean history and culture in the community using the steelpan instrument as a tool.
